This etching is from a suite produced by Dalí to accompany a book for the Night of Walpurgis from Goethe’s Faust. On April 30th in a chaotic decadent scene Mephistopheles takes Faust to the Brocken mountain to witness a witches' sabbath. Here Dalí has portrayed two naked, erotic witches around a broomstick enclosed by patches of mystical mist within the darkness.
