The highlight of our visit to Palermo today has to be the basilica, Cappella Palatina, which forms part of the Norman palace . Founded in 1132 by Roger II it is the pinnacle of Arab-Norman art. In the central apse is Christ Pantocrator whilst the niches house the Four Evangelists. The wooden roof is a masterpiece of Muslim art along with the marble pulpit and candelabrum. The overall design and perfection to detail make this an unmissable monument.
