The Moorish conquest of Spain (Al-Andalus) lasted from 711-1492 and at it’s peak extended over most of the Iberian peninsula up in to parts of Southern France. It consisted of Arab and Berber tribes of North Africa controlling various territories of Spain but these were in a constant state of flux as Christian armies fought to regain power. Finally they were pushed back to the Emirate of Granada until Boabdil , the last Muslim ruler, was expelled by the Catholic King and Queen, Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492.
