Another trip to Spain this weekend sourcing more fabulous Spanish antiques in the Catalan capital of Barcelona. The highlight has to be an afternoon spent in one of the greatest museums in Spain if not Europe , the Museu Frederic Mares . This houses an amazing collection of polychrome wooden sculpture from the 11thC up to the 17thC with multiple examples of ‘Sedes Sapientiae’ , Crucifixion at Calvary groups , Pietas and individual Saints . There are also other collections of marble and alabster sculptures, ceramics , metalwork and other eclectic Spanish pieces. Unfortunately time precluded a full tour of the Museu but it is a ‘must see’ for anyone visiting Barcelona.
