Hispanic Antiques has returned from an amazing trip to Amsterdam , principally to see the prestigious Vermeer Exhibition at the Rijksmuseum and also the nearby Van Gogh Museum. Unfortunately, the Vermeer finishes very soon but the Van Gogh Museum is open all year and well worth the visit. However, I would highly recommend the Rijksmuseum itself and in particular the early medieval and gothic section on the ground floor. Along with some early wall art, bronzes and other artefacts are some fabulous polychrome sculptures with the standout item being the stunning miniature boxwood carving of Dysmas from a crucifixion group from the Lower Rhine region c1490-1510.
