    Details

    José started his artistic training at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, counting Ramón Martí Alsina among his teachers. Later he moved to Rome to continue his studies and it was in this city he was in contact with Mariano Fortuny. He participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (Spain) in 1864, obtaining an honourable mention and in 1866 obtained the third medal. He also attended the Universal Exhibition of Paris (1878) with a canvas entitled A Landscape of Catalonia. His work is dedicated to landscape, portraiture and genre painting. It can be seen among others in the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Badalona Museum, the Ampurdán Museum in Figueras, the VINSEUM in Villafranca del Penedés and the Víctor Balaguer Museum Library.
