Le Ciel Bleu, Paris (The Blue Sky of Paris) by Chagall merges several separate images into a balanced and dynamic composition. This image is comprised of a vibrant orange head, a cheery yellow bird profile, a delicate floral bouquet, and select landmarks from Paris which include the Eiffel Tour, Notre Dame, and the Seine River among others. Like the yellow bird that occupies the centre of the work, we seem to assume this bird's eye view of the historic and romantic city of Paris. The rich blue sky is delightfully executed in a jewel tone blue that has several variations in tonality that range from green to grey, to a pale blue and merge together into a rich and expressive amalgam.
