Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, print maker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright who spent most of his adult life in France. He is probably the most influential artist of the 20th Century as a co-founder of the Cubist movement with Georges Braque. This image was produced at the turn of the century when Picasso was painting in what is described as his Blue Period where he focused on miserable subject matter such as prostitutes and drunks.
