A fabolous wrought iron 'mudejar' tabernacle door on a perspex presentation stand.Details
The term Mudéjar refers to the Muslims of the Iberian Peninsula who remained under Christian rule following the Christian Reconquista of Spain, without initially converting to Christianity or being exiled. The word derives from the Arabic 'mudajjan', meaning subjugated or tamed . The Mudéjar style is a fusion of Islamic geometry, decorative arts, and craftsmanship with Christian architectural forms. In Catholic churches, the tabernacle is a highly ornate, cupboard or box holding the Eucharist which provides a focus for prayer outside of mass.
