To ev’ry captive soul and gentle heart is the first line of a sonnet by Dante which appeared in his book of prose and sonnets ‘La Vita Nuova’ published in 1294. It contains 42 brief chapters with 25 sonnets, one ballata, and four canzoni ; one canzone (or ballad) is left unfinished, interrupted by the death of Beatrice Portinari, Dante's lifelong love. This etching by Dali is probably a depiction of Dante’s love of Beatrice.
To every captive soul and gentle heart,
I now address these words of mine to you
In hope you will return with a reply,
As I salute our lord, the god of Love. Please note: Price does NOT include delivery costs.
