Real Alcazar – Seville

As part of our short break in Seville, today we visited the Real Alcázar , a magnificent palace constructed in several phases between the 10th and 14th century. The Mujedar masterpiece and core of the palace was built by Pedro I (the cruel) in 1362 with foliated arches, paired columns and fabulous azulejo panels. The Alcázar museum houses a collection of ceramics from a range of periods and includes Sevillian tiles (azulejo) and  various plates and bowls. At Hispanic Antiques we have a very similar bowl for sale to the one shown below in the Ceramic section (HA0020). Although ours came from Manises, Valencia it dates from the same century and demonstrates comparable qualities of design and technique in it’s composition.
