A great exhibition of the work by the Portuguese conceptual artist Joana Vasconcelos was on our doorstep at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The works included Pop Galo (Pop Rooster 2016) shown above which adopts two Portuguese symbols – The Rooster of Barcelos and handmade glazed ceramic tiles – and amplified them to monumental proportions above the Yorkshire landscape of Bretton Park. Other works included a giant ring constructed of gold alloy car wheels and whisky glasses (Solitario 2018) and a huge ice cream cone (Tutti Frutti 2019). Also on show were works by Damien Hirst , The Virgin Mother 2005-6 and Myth 2010.
